CAVTAT, a town and port in the southern part of the Zupa Bay, 20 km southeast of Dubrovnik; population 1,930. Major tourist attractions include a very pleasant climate, luxuriant vegetation and nice shores. Economy is based on tourism, while chief occupations in the surroundings of Cavtat include farming and fishing. The port is enclosed by two peninsulas: the south-western Sustjepan separates it from the channel, which is enclosed by the Cavtat reefs of Bobara and Mrkan. East of the Rat peninsula is the Tiha bay. Nice beaches stretch all the way to Cape Prahljevac. Cavtat is located on the main road (M2, E65). It is very well connected with major Croatian cities through Dubrovnik and Cilipi Airport, while local communications with the surroundings include ship and bus lines. For centuries Cavtat was connected to Dubrovnik by administration, trade and the freedom - loving spirit ofthe Dubrovnik Republic. It was a port where people from Konavle had their administrative and juridical control, where they traded, and where the masterminds like Baltazar Bogišić, Vlaho Bukovac, and Frano Supilo were born. With the pleasure we are presenting you one of the oldest houses in the old city of Cavtat. House was built around 1750. and it was fully renewed in 2001. It it very comfortable and cosy, suitable for 6 (max. 7) persons. Ground floor is the oldest part of the house and it was preserved in authentical way, especially the kitchen with (according to legends) 400 years old fireplace. First floor is arranged as study with internet/tel/fax connection. There is also one single bed room, WC and shower and two quite big terraces. One of the terraces is facing to the north, while the other one has beautifull view on whole port and channel. On the second floor there are two big rooms with two beds each. One is facing port and harbour and the second one on the Tiha Bay. Rooms are equipped with WC and shower. From the second floor you can reach attic where are another two beds and fascinating view on both bays and islands in the chanell. Surrounding of the house is completely authentic. House is made of stone, with wodden doors and windows, and terraces are also equpped with stone benches. While the one of the terrases is in the shade, other one is allways on the sunny side. Orange and lemon trees are growing in the courtyard. All rooms are airconditioned. We are looking forward to offer you pleasent and romantic vacations.
